Chianti Classico: The Search for Tuscany's Noblest Wine, with Bill Nesto, MW, and Frances Di Savino
- Starts: 5:00 pm on Friday, October 14, 2016
- Ends: 8:00 pm on Friday, October 14, 2016
Bill Nesto and Frances Di Savino, authors of the new book, Chianti Classico: The Search for Tuscany’s Noblest Wine (UC Press, September 2016), have uncovered the untold story of the territory of Chianti and its star grape variety, Sangiovese. They also have a thriller to tell about a long-lost Medici decree delimiting Chianti. It mysteriously disappeared in 1716 only to reappear, also mysteriously, in the 1960s. Woven throughout these tales will be a guided tasting of the three quality tiers of Chianti Classico—Annata, Riserva, and Gran Selezione. The authors will conclude the evening with a sampling of Vin Santo, pecorino, honey, and biscotti. Includes book.
