Being charged with academic misconduct can be a stressful experience.

Boston University has a number of resources (e.g. Behavioral Health, Clergy) in place to support students during the academic misconduct process, including your college or school’s Designated Academic Integrity Representative (DAIR).

What is a DAIR?

The DAIR serves as a resource for students and instructors who are involved in an academic misconduct case. The role of the DAIR is to make the process as clear and easily navigable as possible for all parties. While the DAIR does not advocate for either party, they do their best to keep all parties well-informed throughout the process.

At your request, the DAIR can accompany you to meetings with instructors, the Designated Dean, and the Academic Conduct Committee. You are encouraged to meet with your DAIR to discuss the academic conduct process, the choices available to you, and the implications of each choice.

Keep in Mind

An allegation of academic misconduct is not an automatic finding of academic misconduct. The University has a process in place to investigate and evaluate all allegations of academic misconduct, and you are encouraged to participate in this process!

Be sure to review all materials relevant to your case and meet with your DAIR so you understand your rights and responsibilities throughout the academic misconduct process.
