
Dawn Belkin Martinez
Clinical Professor and Associate Dean for Equity & Inclusion at School of Social Work
Dawn Belkin Martinez, PhD, LICSW, is a nationally recognized expert on anti-oppressive social work practice. She is a clinical professor and associate dean of equity and inclusion at Boston University School of Social Work and a faculty affiliate at the BU Center for Antiracism. As the associate dean, she designs, develops, and implements DEI initiatives, and provides consulting and supervision around the world for social justice-focused practice. She co-authored the book Social Justice in Clinical Practice, A Liberation Health Framework for Social Work (Routledge, 2014), and co-founded the Boston Liberation Health Group, which trains and mentors over 2,700 social workers in anti-oppressive social work practice. Formerly the chief social worker on the inpatient psychiatry service at Children’s Hospital in Boston and an instructor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, she has nearly 30 years of experience as a scholar, clinical social worker, and activist.
