Deborah Carr is a professor of sociology and director of the Center for Innovation in Social Science at Boston University. She is an expert in aging in the United States, with a focus on family relationships, end-of-life issues including bereavement, and economic inequality among older adults. Carr also write about stress, coping, and mental health over the life course. She has published more than 100 articles and several books, including the award-winning Golden Years? Social Inequality in Later Life (2019); Aging in America (2023); and Worried Sick (2014). Her essays and op-eds have appeared on CNN, Washington Post, Psychology Today, and more. She is editor-in-chief of Journal of Health and Social Behavior and former editor-in-chief of Journal of Gerontology: Social Sciences (2015-20).
