Dr. Filho is an Associate Professor of Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology in the Wheelock College of Education and Human Development. His research agenda centers on performance optimization at both the individual and group levels of analyses. Dr. Filho is particularly interested in studying athletes’ and performers’ Individual Zones of Optimal Functioning and the neural markers of optimal performance. Dr. Filho is also interested in high-performing teams, particularly how cohesion, team mental models, collective efficacy, and intra-team psychophysiological rhythms influence team performance. Dr. Filho has co-edited two books and authored over 80 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters in the field of Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology. Dr. Filho has worked with amateur, collegiate, and professional athletes as well as musicians and performance artists. He is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant by the Association for Applied Sport Psychology, an Established Practitioner with the International Society of Sport Psychology, and a member of the Sport Psychology registry of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
