Gianluca Stringhini

Gianluca Stringhini is an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Boston University, which he joined in September 2018. Before joining BU, he was faculty at University College London for four years. Gianluca works in the area of data-driven security, analyzing large datasets to better understand complex malicious online operations and developing mitigation techniques to fight them. As examples, recently I have been investigating the spread of alternative news and memes on online social networks, raids organized by trolls against other Internet users, cyberbullyingransomwareonline dating scamsmoney laundering schemes linked to cybercrime, malware delivery networks, and online social network compromises. He has published over 60 peer reviewed papers and was awarded multiple prizes, including a Facebook Secure the Internet Grant in 2018, a Google Faculty Research Award in 2015, the Symantec Research Labs Fellowship in 2012.
