Hank Fien, PhD, is the director of the National Center on Improving Literacy and is a professor in the Teaching & Learning department at BU Wheelock. He also directs the BU TEACH research center. Fien’s research is focused on the areas of early reading and early mathematics interventions for diverse learners in school settings. His work is focused on scaling up evidence based practices in schools and to better understand the ecological factors that support or hinder the use of evidence. His recent work seeks to blur the edges between the physical and virtual classroom to extend learning opportunities to children across a broader platform. He has authored over 100 peer reviewed articles and chapters, and has generated over $100M in research and innovation awards throughout his career.
