
Joseph Harris

Joseph Harris is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Boston University. He conducts comparative historical research that lies at the intersection of sociology, political science, and global health. He is author of Achieving Access: Professional Movements and the Politics of Health Universalism (Cornell University Press, 2017). At BU, he directs the Global Health Politics Workshop and is a Core Faculty Member at the Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases Policy and Research. Dr. Harris has served as Vice Chair of the International Studies Association’s Global Health Section and is a past member of the governing Council of the American Sociological Association’s Section on the Sociology of Development. He has received two Fulbright scholarships for his research on the politics of health policy in Thailand and is host of the Global Health Politics Podcast, available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon, and other leading platforms.
