Nalin Kulatilaka’s research interests include the role of financial markets in directing investments to clean energy technologies. Professor Kulatilaka has published over 75 papers in scholarly journals and in a wide range of topics real options, economics of business platforms, valuation of early-stage firms, role of energy intermediaries, technology licensing and financial contracting. His book, Real Options: Managing Strategic Investment in an Uncertain World, has received wide acclaim from both academic and practitioner worlds.
Kulatilaka received the Association for Investment Management and Research’s Graham and Dodd Award for the outstanding feature article published in the Financial Analysts Journal, held the Bertil Danielsson Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics and Göteborg University in Sweden, and the Tamkang Chair at the Tamkang University in Taiwan.
Professor Kulatilaka actively engages in activities outside academia: He advises corporations and international organizations on a variety of issues relating to financial valuation and technology strategy. He has been a featured speaker at international conferences, is the co-founder of FirstFuel, serves on advisory boards of EnergyPoints and WattzOn, and the board of Assette.
