
Nimi Wariboko
Walter G. Muelder Professor of Social Ethics, School of Theology
Dr. Wariboko is the Walter G. Muelder Professor of Social Ethics at Boston University. Before going into the academy, he was an investment banker in Lagos, Nigeria and Wall Street, New York. He has served as a management and strategic consultant to governments, corporations, and the Central Bank of Nigeria. He had his early training in economics and finance. Dr. Wariboko has also taught in business schools, teaching mergers and acquisitions, security analysis, international business and marketing, and financial statement analysis. His first book published in 1993 was on financial statement analysis. Between 1993 and 2021 he published 19 other monographs and edited 6 volumes. The total number of his academic publications is over 100.
A book analyzing his transdisciplinary scholarship, The Philosophy of Nimi Wariboko: Social Ethics, Economy, Society and Religion was published in 2020. The editor Professor Toyin Falola of the University of Texas at Austin, a world-class historian brought together 26 scholars from all over the world (political theorists, theologians, ethicists, religious scholars, historians, Africanists, and philosophers) to analyze his scholarship and contributions to the academy.
In March 2018 Wariboko was elected to the American Theological Society. This is society whose membership is limited at any given time to 100; theologians, philosophers, and ethicists who are considered among the best in United States.
