Peter E. Busher
Professor of Natural Sciences & Mathematics, College of General Studies
Professor Busher’s research interests are in the general area of mammalian behavioral ecology. He has studied and continues to study the population dynamics and behavior of the North American beaver, Castor canadensis. He is particularly interested in better understanding how populations grow, develop, stabilize, and decline without human exploitation. He is also interested in better understanding the evolution of the monogamous mating system in beavers and how long-term climate changes may influence foraging behavior and food storing behavior. Additionally, he is interested in the growing issue of how humans live with urban and suburban wildlife populations.
