
Sofia Perez
Associate Professor, Political Science, College of Arts & Sciences
Professor Perez is a specialist in political economy in BU’s Department of Political Science. She teaches comparative politics and courses on the politics of immigration.
Perez’s work has centered on the politics of economic regulation in Europe. She has published and co-authored books on financial regulation (Banking on Privilege: The Politics of Spanish Financial Reform, Cornell University Press in 1997, Capital Ungoverned: Liberalizing Finance in Interventionist States, Cornell University Press in 1996), and numerous journal articles and book chapters on financial regulation, exchange rate policy, European monetary integration, social pacts, wage bargaining, and immigration policy in Europe.
Her articles have appeared in the International Studies Quarterly, Comparative Politics, Comparative Political Studies, Journal of European Public Policy and Governance. She is currently working on a book project on the politics of immigration policy and welfare states in Europe.
