Professor of Media Science at the College of Communication
Dr. Hong’s program of research is on new media effects and processes, particularly in the context of health. She has examined how health media messages can prevent smoking, alcohol consumption, vaping, and other risky health behaviors. She has also examined the related effects of peer influence, including as simulated in virtual environments. She leads the Trust & Public Health Communication research core at BU’s Center on Emerging Infectious Diseases.
