Biographical Sketch

Dr. Brody’s PhD (1977) is from Harvard’s personality and developmental psychology program. Her clinical internship (1977-1978) was completed at Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago, and she joined the BU faculty in 1978. She served as Director of the Clinical program from 1991-1996 and was a fellow at the Radcliffe Bunting Institute in the academic year 1994-1995. She teaches Psychotherapy, Child Therapy, Family Therapy and Special Topics on the Family.

Research Interests

Dr. Brody’s research interests concern gender and cultural differences in emotion and emotional regulation in relation to health, as well as treatment approaches for children with anxiety and mood disorders. Presently she is working on investigating gender role related coping strategies in relation to health outcomes in women who have HIV. She is the author of Gender, Emotion, and the Family (1999, Harvard U. Press) and Daughters of Kings (1997, Faber & Faber). Her work has been funded by the Rockefeller Foundation and by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
