“This advanced degree program is providing me with the professional knowledge and expertise necessary to make informed decisions and drive the success of my ventures.”

Carrie Qi is already an entrepreneur. She got the idea for her first product when she was just a first-year student at Fordham University, working toward a bachelor’s in economics and a minor in business administration. It wasn’t long before that kernel of an idea became The Package Butler—the world’s first smart mailbox that protects both your mail and your packages. To take her business to the next level, Carrie enrolled in Questrom’s MS in Management program.

“This advanced degree program is providing me with the professional knowledge and expertise necessary to make informed decisions and drive the success of my ventures,” Carrie says. “The MSMS program offers a comprehensive curriculum, equipping me with the management skills and business acumen needed to thrive in today’s competitive marketplace.”

The Package Butler, with its smart tech—a virtual key, barcode scanner, solar panel, and 24/7 connectivity to your mobile phone—was suddenly in high demand during the pandemic. To keep the company growing and innovating, Carrie set out to hone her management skills and expand her network. Questrom, with its extensive resources and entrepreneurial spirit, was the perfect fit.

“First and foremost, the well-rounded curriculum is perfectly tailored for my needs, as it encompasses all the crucial aspects of product development, from in-depth market research to designing effective journey maps,” Carrie says. “Also, I joined Innovation Lab, an investment panel at the school that supports entrepreneurs by providing insights, resources, and potential funding. This unique opportunity fosters a strong entrepreneurial spirit within the school community, adding significant value to the educational experience.”

Running a business, while attending classes and managing coursework is a challenge, but Carrie is used to that. Plus, the resources she’s tapped into and the network she’s developed at Questrom, make it all worth it.
