To get to know Luke’s experience at Questrom, read the Q&A below.
Q: What did you like most about the program?
A: I liked how there was a wide range of classes that were offered like data ethics and sequel coding and how it sets you up for jobs in different ways.
Q: How did your Questrom education prepare you for your current role?
A: My job incorporates a lot of different aspects, specifically healthcare. With that we use large data sets and analysis of those data sets using Python and other programs that were used which has translated to my job.
Q: What is the most rewarding or challenging part of your job?
A: The challenging part about my job is working with large data sets, we have healthcare data going back to 2015. It can be hard to determine where to look and what to look for as well. However, a rewarding part is working in healthcare and getting a baseline knowledge of the US healthcare system because I’m from London.
Q: Give some advice on how to build a network.
A: It was hard because I graduated during the pandemic and the job market wasn’t good, but I would say use LinkedIn a lot. I reached out to a company I was interested in or reached out to people who had a job I had and asked to learn more.
Q: Please share how you engaged in the Questrom Community.
A: Well, I was on the men’s rowing team but in the pandemic it was hard. But the staff put on a lot of events that allowed me to connect better with my peers, professors, and industry professionals.
Q: Why did you choose BU and Questrom for your education?
A: I went to Questrom for my undergrad, so I knew a lot of the professors already and it was the first year they were running the program. It sounded like a good opportunity and being an international student, benefitted me looking for jobs and things like that. Overall, I really enjoyed it.
