Samantha Zyontz

Clinical Assistant Professor, Strategy and Innovation

Samantha Zyontz is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Strategy & Innovation at Boston University Questrom School of Business. She also is an affiliate (by courtesy) of the Boston University Law School. Her research focuses on intellectual property strategy and the influence of institutions on innovation, with an emphasis on CRISPR DNA-editing tools. She has work published in the Journal of Empirical Legal Studies, Journal of Competition Law and Economics, International Review of Law and Economics, Stanford Technology Law Review, Hastings Business Law Journal, Tennessee Law Review, and Florida Law Review.

Dr. Zyontz has also conducted several policy focused, large-scale empirical law and economics projects with the Commission of Experts for Research and Innovation in Germany (EFI); Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at Harvard Business School; the Searle Center on Law, Regulation, and Economic Growth at Northwestern University School of Law; and Law and Economics Center at George Mason University School of Law. Prior to her career in academia, she worked in intellectual property litigation consulting for PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, Navigant Consulting, Inc., and, currently, with Berkeley Research Group.

Dr. Zyontz received her Ph.D. Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Management from the MIT Sloan School of Management, a M.S. in Managerial Economics and Strategy from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the College of William & Mary in Virginia with a B.A. in economics.
