KMarie Tejeda specializes in Religions in American Culture under the supervision of Margarita Guillory. Her research interest focuses on studying the religions that the Dominican Diaspora practices in the United States, emphasizing Religions of African Origin, Pentecostalism, and people’s interaction with the Holy Spirit and spirits. She believes that the academic study of the Holy Spirit and spirits in the context of the Dominican diaspora is a topic that has not been explored enough due to its subjective nature and the prejudice that such practices entail. Nevertheless, she contends that academic study does not undermine such experiences and demonstrates a deep respect for the diversity of spiritual experiences. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Religion from Hunter College (2016), a Master of Divinity from Harvard Divinity School (2020), and a Master of Sacred Theology from Boston University School of Theology (2021).
