Grants Management Trainings, Updates & Reminders

We wanted to spread the word about some of the training opportunities offered by SP and PAFO this year, and to share some updates and reminders from PAFO.  Read on for details regarding:

Sponsored Research Training Workshop for New Department Administrators

The 2-Day Foundational Training Workshop for Department Administrators who are newer to managing awards is being offered again this spring.

The course will give participants a holistic and high level view of sponsored research at BU, including roles and responsibilities. It is run twice yearly and covers the entire grant project life cycle, including pre award and post award activities.  This course is aimed at DAs who have been in their roles managing grants for a year or less. It is ideal for anyone who is new to sponsored research at BU, or who will be taking on new grants management responsibilities and needs a refresher.

The next New DA Training Workshop will be offered on March 19-20th

Click here to register for the March session. (Note: you must commit to attending both days) If the course is full and you would like to be put on our wait-list, please email Jen Rogers (jlrogers@bu.edu). You can view more details on this training, plus access other training opportunities and resources, here.

After-the-Fact Review Training

If your department/school/college is interested in receiving After-the-fact Review training, please get in touch with Gretchen Hartigan (hartigan@bu.edu) to arrange it. The training is relevant for all areas and includes the importance of regularly reviewing transactions posted to fund centers plus other tips and guidance.

Spreadsheet of GL Numbers & Associated Fringe Rates

Just a quick note that the Institutional Numbers and Rates webpage on the Research Support site has been updated to include a spreadsheet of GL Numbers and associated fringe rates.

Property Disposal Process

As a reminder, no one should dispose of equipment without completing the Asset Relocation form.  This form can be found by going to the Business Warehouse > Finance Tab > Asset Relocation folder (as seen below). We are finding that less than 5% of disposed assets comply with this policy.  Please ensure that your lab personnel are aware of the rules and that they cannot throw equipment away without letting PAFO know.  Additional information on Property Management can be found under Research Support, Tools and Services.
