Internal Prior Approval Request (IPAR) Form Updated
Please be informed that our “Internal Prior Approval Request (IPAR)” form has been updated! Sponsored Programs has made a series of changes to the IPAR form to better accommodate for Rebudget, De-obligations and No-Cost Extension actions during award set-up. These changes will help prevent common holds related to these actions while giving the Research Administrators and Award Set-Up team the most accurate information possible.
- The first major change is the form now includes an external link to an IPAR Rebudget Template created through Excel. The template has 3 different budget formats, and each format comes with an MTDC and TDC option depending on how the award calculates F&A. The budgets are completely customizable to department and award needs, and are color coded to show exclusions and provide guidance when filling out the template.
The following formats are available for use in the template:
- Standard Template (MTDC/TDC) – Can be used similarly to the former IPAR “blue line” template, can be used when you’re only calculating budget changes.
- Rebudget between IOs (MTDC/TDC) – A two column format that can be used when rebudgeting funds between two different IOs in the same grant
- Total Budget Change (MTDC/TDC) – This format can be used to see what new budget totals will be after the rebudget action
- In addition, we’ve also updated some of our guidance for deobligating previously unspent sub award amounts. We now ask that before submitting rebudget requests that deobligate subaward amounts, that the amounts be confirmed with your Post-Award RA prior to submittal. This will help ensure that the funds being rebudgeted are available before the action is processed.
- Finally, we made a small update to the No-Cost Extension section, by adding a check box to be used when a subaward(s) under the award should also be extended.
We hope you will find these updates useful as you work on future Rebudget, De-obligations, and No-Cost Extension requests.
