As climate change accelerates, we need better methods for measuring and talking about the social and environmental impact of businesses. Within the investment industry, the metrics commonly used to gauge this impact, known as ESG (environment, social, governance), have become a hot topic, but the factors they represent are difficult to measure. Across BU’s campuses, researchers are working to help develop E, S, and G metrics that better reflect and communicate this social and environmental impact. Better metrics can bring about more responsible business behavior that would mitigate risks and harness long-term value for all stakeholders—shareholders, employees, and society at large.
This Research on Tap will present a wide range of pioneering research from BU faculty that is helping to move the needle on ESG metrics. This event is co-sponsored by the BU Impact Measurement & Allocation Program (IMAP), a joint program of the BU Institute for Global Sustainability and BU’s Questrom School of Business. About Research on Tap
The Research on Tap series, sponsored by the BU Office of Research, brings together groups of BU researchers around important topics. At each event, 10-12 researchers present a maximum of four slides and deliver a four-minute “elevator pitch” of their work. Research on Tap events are open to faculty, staff, postdocs, and graduate students. Each presentation is followed by refreshments and lively discussion with colleagues and potential collaborators.
