Virtual Event

Hosted by BU Foundation Relations

The American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR) and the Hevolution Foundation, in partnership with the Office of Research and Foundation Relations, will hold a workshop to acquaint researchers at BU with the funding priorities and programs, and application and review processes of these funders.

AFAR is a leading supporter of biomedical research on aging with the goal of extending older adults’ years of health, independence, and quality of life. AFAR funds research on the biology of aging, as well as the connections between aging processes and age-related diseases and conditions.

Launched in 2021, Hevolution Foundation is a first-of-its-kind nonprofit organization that provides grants and early-stage investments to incentivize independent research and entrepreneurship in the emerging field of healthspan science. Hevolution has allocated a yearly $1B budget for longevity-related science and investments.

The workshop will feature Odette van der Willik, deputy executive director for AFAR, Felipe Sierra, PhD, chief scientific officer, and Viviana Perez, PhD, vice president of Geroscience, both from Hevolution, as well as BU faculty who have recently received support from these funders.
