Important Notes

  • Budgetary categories described in this Notice apply only to Kirschstein-NRSA awards made with FY 2024 funds.  All FY 2024 awards previously issued using NOT-OD-23-076 will be revised to adjust funding to the FY 2024 levels. Once the revised Notice of Award has been received and processed by Sponsored Programs, the PI or departmental administrator shall complete the following, as applicable:
    • Amend appointments to institutional training grants that have already been awarded in FY 2024 to reflect the FY 2024 stipend levels. Amended appointments must be submitted through xTrain in the eRA Commons.
    • Adjust stipend charges retroactive to 10/1/23 and prospectively for the remainder of the grant year. Retroactive adjustments or supplementation of stipends or other budgetary categories with Kirschstein-NRSA funds for an award made prior to 10/1/23 are not permitted.
  • The current stipend and expense levels should be used in the preparation of future competing and non-competing applications. They will be administratively applied to all applications currently in the review process.
  • In cases where BU’s institutional minimum for postdoc stipends is higher than the amounts listed here, the difference is covered by the Office of Research on the Charles River Campus and schools/colleges on the Medical Campus.
