Sony Research Award Program
Enhancing emerging and innovative technological development

Faculty are invited to participate in the 2024 Sony Research Award Program. The Sony Research Award Program provides funding for cutting-edge academic research and helps build a collaborative relationship between faculty and Sony researchers. The Faculty Innovation Award provides funds up to $100k to conduct research in Sony’s general areas of interest. The Focused Research Award provides funds up to $150k to conduct research in the areas of Sony’s immediate interest. Please review the links provided for more details regarding the specific areas of interest. These awards contain special terms regarding background intellectual property and may not be suitable for everyone. Please contact BU Technology Development (otd@bu.edu) with any questions regarding your intellectual property and the application.
All proposals must be submitted to Sony by BU Sponsored Programs and will need to be vetted by Technology Development prior to submission. The application window is open until Sunday, September 15. Please submit formatted, complete proposals along with required documentation, a budget, and a fully signed proposal summary form to Sponsored Programs (ospera@bu.edu), Industry Engagement (engagebu@bu.edu), and Technology Development (otd@bu.edu) no later than Monday, September 2.

Samsung Global Research Outreach
In pursuit of open innovation, new ideas, and technological breakthroughs

Faculty are invited to participate in the 2024 Samsung Global Research Outreach (GRO) program. The GRO program is an annual call for proposals that invites faculty to propose innovative research ideas for up to $150k in funding which will be evaluated for their novelty and alignment with the following research themes: machine intelligence, semiconductor metrology, new electric materials, interconnect, new computing and device, and environment and energy for sustainability. All proposals must be submitted to Samsung by BU Sponsored Programs and will need to be vetted by Technology Development prior to submission. The application window is open until Monday, August 19.
