Services

Our administrative staff is responsible for animal facility access for new investigators, animal orders and transport, and per diem billings. Our management team provides routine and customized husbandry to laboratory animals as well as support services in mouse breeding, reproductive technology, and genetic engineering. Our veterinary staff conduct colony health surveillance programs, individual animal support when indicated, and investigator training in basic animal research methods. ASC veterinarians also offer professional consultation on animal model development and IACUC protocol preparation.

Accreditation

BU’s laboratory animal care and use program is registered with the USDA under the Animal Welfare Act and Regulations, and maintains a Letter of Assurance with the NIH Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare under the Health Research Extension Act of 1985 and the Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. BU is also accredited by AAALAC International since 1971.
