Irradiator User Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as an Irradiator User are listed below.

1. You must attend Irradiator Training.
2. You MUST NOT allow untrained or unauthorized persons to operate the irradiator.
3. You must obtain an iris scan at security to access the room where the irradiator is located.
4. The key to the irradiator must remain in the room.
5. You must use the on-line schedule to sign up to use the irradiator.
6. You must remove your trash and other unwanted items and clean the target chamber before leaving the irradiator room.
7. You must sign the irradiator log book maintained in the room after using the device.
8. You must have an active IBC and/or IACUC approval to irradiate specimens or animals.
9. You must report any problems such as malfunctions to the Radiation Protection Office at 8-7052 as soon as possible.
10. You must understand and know how to implement the emergency response procedures for the irradiator.
