Transnetyx COVID-19 Program Info

The following opportunity is for labs conducting essential research with animals. Transnetyx provides automated genotyping researchers in universities, hospitals, and bioscience companies. As a reminder, BU has ramped down non-essential research to mitigate the effects of COVID-19.

Transnetyx is offering all labs [conducting essential biomedical research] within BU 50 free samples, free shipping, free supplies and free assay design – completion of design will require only the most basic information, as well as a dedicated point-of-contact from your lab. Currently, we can guarantee genotyping results within 72 hours on all orders. We will provide regular updates and notify all of our partners immediately if this changes. Once operations begin to normalize, research groups will have no obligation to continue working with us and can return to their normal activity.

Many of our TAGCenters are still shipping on their regular schedules.  For those that are not, we are happy to send supplies directly to you so you can ship direct to Transnetyx using a prepaid FedEx envelope. Just confirm the supplies you need and the address you’d like me to send them to.

For your labs not currently genotyping with Transnetyx, below is some helpful information to get started.

  1. The first step for labs to get started is to open an account at www.transnetyx.com
  2. After your account is registered, the next step is to add your strain information to your account.  We would be happy to walk you through that process if you’d like to set up a phone call or video chat. If your lines are publicly available (ie through Jax) you can usually add them by using the Jax stock number or MGI number to search our database.  If your lines are not in the searchable database, we will have you complete a Strain Information Form in your account and our team will custom design something for you free of charge.  I am attaching some slides on how to complete the SIF, but again I would be happy to talk you through that process.  If completing this form is a hardship at this time, let me know and we’ll work with you to get the information loaded to your account for you.
  3. Finally, once your strains are marked ‘Ready for Testing’ you can clip your tissue sample and place directly into the Transnetyx well plate (no buffer or lysis solution needed), seal it with the rubber cap mat, and drop it to the TAGCenter for shipment or ship direct using supplied FedEx envelopes. I will attach some slides on how to complete your order online, but again I’d be happy to review that with you via phone or video chat.

We are always grateful for the opportunity to serve your research, but these uncertain times make me especially thankful to you and the rest of the research community for all that you do to serve society and keep us all well!
