Alina Peña Iguarán Wins A National Essay Prize

Congratulations to Alina Peña Iguarán, graduate of our PhD program in Hispanic Studies, who has been awarded first prize in the Concurso Nacional de Ensayo Nellie Campobello. The prize, which is given on the occasion of the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution, recognizes Peña Iguarán’s essay, “La revolución infantilizada”. Peña Igaurán lives in New York and teaches Spanish at Montclair State University. Her 2010 dissertation, “La auto-representación del intelectual en la narrativa de la Revolución mexicana” (2010) was directed by Adela Pineda Franco.
