Before, Within and Beyond Bossa Nova
Professor Dário Borim is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Portuguese at UMass Dartmouth.
He holds a Ph.D. in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian literature and linguistics from University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the Portuguese language, Luso-Brazilian literature, cinema, theater, and music. His book Perplexidades: Raça, sexo e outras questões sociopolíticas no discurso cultural brasileiro was published in 2004 by EdUFF (Rio de Janeiro).
He is also translator, creative writer, concert producer, and radio programmer at WUMD. His writings have appeared in 15 peer-reviewed periodicals from Brazil, France, Peru, and the United States. Professor translated Helena Jobim’s biography of her brother, world-renowned musician and composer, Tom Jobim, published in 2011.
