Ducey Publishes Article
Joanna Ducey, doctoral student in French Language & Literature, has published an article in the University of Bucharest Review, titled “Between Transmission & Silence: Recovering Harki Memories in The Art of Losing.” Joanna tells us:
“This article examines how Alice Zeniter’s The Art of Losing (2017) confronts and excavates the oft unknown, or else miscontrued, past of Harkis, men who served the French during the Algerian War, and their descendants. Zeniter presents constructive, innovative ways of mobilizing memory through fictional literature, in efforts to reconcile with intergenerational hauntings of the past.”
