Call for Papers
How do we remember women and their experiences? What is the female experience of violence? Does the perspective change when we think of groups or individuals? Do women get a seat at the table or are their voices silenced?
Women have long fought for equality and safety in the workplace, the education system, and beyond, all over the world, but the struggle continues even today. Modern feminism is often equated to misandry, confidence expressed by women is frequently viewed as arrogant, and women taking a stand – especially against men – has often backfired and resulted in the use of labels like “men haters” and “feminazis” or violence. Women’s experiences of violence have historically been undervalued, ignored, or swept under the rug in favor of their male counterparts. Despite advancements towards equity, women still struggle to have their voices heard, their accomplishments recognized, and their stories remembered.
