Gelardo-Rodríguez and Verónica Rodríguez Ballesteros at Latino & Iberian XV International Seminar on Hispanic Actors in Exile
Our alumna Teresa Gelardo-Rodríguez and our colleague Verónica Rodríguez Ballesteros were invited to participate in the Latino & Iberian XV International Seminar on Hispanic Actors in Exile organized by AEHC and LIFFY in Yale University, April 11th-12th.
Teresa and Verónica presented their work on Margarita Xirgu and Encarnación López Júlvez “La Argentinita” with an innovative hybrid format of lecture-performance that brought back to life these two great performers, directors, and entrepreneurs that revolutionized theatre with their friend Federico García Lorca in pre-war Spain.
Teresa Gelardo-Rodríguez played the role of la Xirgu, and Verónica Rodríguez Ballesteros became la Argentinita, and they acted, sang and danced the words of these two trailblazers of theatrical innovation in Spain before the civil war, and then in exile, in Latinoamérica and in the USA.
These Cómicas de la Le(n)gua are planning to bring their show to BU very soon, so stay tuned for more details! ¡Arriba el telón y que ruede La Barraca Hispanoamericana!
