Gelardo-Rodriguez Wins GRAF
Congratulations to Teresa Gelardo-Rodríguez, of our Spanish doctoral program, who has been awarded a Graduate Research Abroad Fellowship (GRAF) to conduct dissertation research in Spain on the theater of Federico García Lorca.
Teresa’s dissertation questions traditional binary approaches to Lorca’s theater and concentrates attention on his 1935 play Doña Rosita la soltera o El lenguaje de las flores / Doña Rosita the Spinster or The Language of Flowers, which brings together a number of “contradictory poetic and theatrical elements present in his work from his very first writings.” Her research will be carried out at several archives and libraries, from the Centro García Lorca (Granada) to the theater archives of Madrid and Barcelona, including the Centro de Documentación Teatral.
