Master Lecturer in French and Spanish
After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in translation & interpretation in Belgium, Liliane specialized in the field of Linguistics and Foreign Language Acquisition and pursued her graduate studies in Anthropology as a Fulbright scholar at Boston University. In the U.S., Liliane has taught at Brown University and at the College of the Holy Cross.
Liliane joined Boston University in 2006 and is a Senior Lecturer in the department of Romance Studies. She is the founder of BU’s French club, the Association Francophone of BU. She serves as the Faculty co-advisor for the Center for Gender, Sexuality and Activism. She has embarked on several Alternative Spring Break volunteer missions with the BU Center for Community Service.
Liliane was appointed twice at BU Paris and once at BU Madrid to teach on site. Currently, Liliane is one of the 18 Faculty-in-Residence on the Boston campus, where she cultivates interdisciplinary, innovative and meaningful interactions with students with whom she lives and learns. In that capacity, she won the 2019 Award for Outstanding Service. She is an engaged contributor to the field of Foreign Language Inclusive Pedagogy and gives regular talks at national conferences on the topic. Her other topics of interest are: foreign language acquisition, phonetics and pronunciation, teaching with technology and virtual reality, techniques of translation & interpretation, comics and graphic novels, and queer francophone cinema.
