Lecturer in Spanish

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Philip is a long-term resident of the greater Boston area. His primary area of research relates to the lecture as an art form in the 1920s and 30s in Spain, especially those given by the poet Federico García Lorca. He is also interested in public speech as propaganda in early twentieth-century Spain and the role anthologies play in shaping critical and canonical understandings of poetic groups, particularly the Generation of ‘27. Philip earned his doctorate at Boston University in 2021 and is excited to be rejoining the department as a Spanish lecturer.
