Graduate Student in Spanish

Wiktoria’s academic work focuses on the literary spectrum of Medieval Iberia, centered around the question of how the historical coexistence of Christians, Jews and Muslims shaped the cultural space of Spain. Her dissertation, tentatively entitled The Personified City: Desire and Lament in Medieval Castilian and Hispano-Arabic Poetry, examines the literary specificity of the representation of urban space, with particular attention to the portrayal of cities as female figures in chronicles, poetry, and ballads from Christian and Muslim perspectives in medieval Iberia. Her other research interests include theories of translation and adaptation, as well as the contemporary relevance of medieval aesthetics.
