About Audrey Holland

Audrey L. Holland, Ph.D., is Professor Emerita of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Arizona. Her major research interests are in neurogenic communication disorders with special emphasis on aphasia and management of aphasia. She maintains an active clinical role in rehabilitation of aphasic adults and has published over 125 research articles, textbooks and clinical tools.

Dr. Holland received her BS, MS and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology, and is Board Certified by the Academy of Neurogenic Communication Disorders and Sciences. She was the recipient of the 1990 Honors of the American Speech Language Hearing Association, the 1995 Clinical Achievement Award from ANCDS, and the 1999 Professional Achievement Award from the Council of Graduate Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is also a senior faculty member of the National Center for Neurogenic Communication Disorders.

Before joining the faculty at Arizona in 1991, Dr. Holland was a Professor of Otolaryngology and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She also has taught at Emerson College, Boston.
