Professor Anne Escher Honored for Teaching Excellence

Anne Escher, clinical assistant professor of occupational therapy received the Whitney R. Powers Award for Teaching Excellence.

This award recognizes an outstanding member of the Sargent faculty and is named in honor of Sargent Professor Emeritus Whitney R. Powers, a former Health Sciences Department chair who for more than 25 years shared his gifts as an outstanding educator.

In her award nominations, Escher was for praised for her commitment to respecting students’ diversity of experience and thought and creating an inclusive learning community, challenging students to consider multiple perspectives. 

Escher’s clinical practice covers the life span from working in NICU and pediatrics at an acute care hospital to inpatient rehabilitation and home care for older adults with low vision. Escher’s scholarship primarily focuses on the area of productive aging. Her current scholarly work centers on clients with communication impairments. Additionally, she interested in research related to OT clinical education.
