Scholarly, Research, and/or Practical Interests

Daniel Buckley is a faculty lecturer within the Department of Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences, and is an active clinical speech-language pathologist in the Center for Voice and Swallowing within the Department of Otolaryngology at Boston Medical Center. His academic involvement includes instructing the graduate level voice and resonance disorders course, as well as supervising graduate clinicians in the Boston University Voice Program. Since 2017, He has worked as a research speech-language pathologist with Professor Cara Stepp in the Stepp Lab for Sensorimotor Rehabilitation Engineering, with research focusing on the acoustic assessment of voice disorders, novel interventions for gender-affirming voice care, and high-speed laryngeal imaging in laryngeal dystonia, muscle tension dysphonia, and Parkinson’s disease. His  research interests include improving the assessment and intervention for laryngeal muscle tension-based disorders. His professional interests include providing advanced clinical training to the next generation of speech-language pathologists. Further interests include refining and providing sensitive and culturally responsible voice care for individuals from marginalized communities.
