Scholarly, Research, and/or Practice Interests
Dr. Avedzi’s work focuses on improving population health outcomes, health policy, and clinical practice using evidence-informed strategies. He has experience in transdisciplinary population and clinical health research/interventions, leadership, and management. Dr. Avedzi has lived and worked in Africa, Europe, and North America (Canada and USA). He is particularly passionate about research and multi-stakeholder initiatives that focus on:
- Human nutrition and health outcomes
- Chronic disease prevention and management in high-risk populations
- Social and structural determinants of health
- Global public health (maternal and child health focus)
- Built environment, health, and aging
- Care for individuals with rare genetic disease
Besides research, Dr. Avedzi is deeply committed to teaching and mentorship. His student-centered approach fosters intellectual curiosity, promotes critical thinking, and encourages the development of skills necessary for academic and professional growth. He has consistently inspired students to pursue excellence in knowledge acquisition and personal development.
