Sargent College’s Department of Occupational Therapy Welcomes New Faculty

We are thrilled to welcome Jessie Franco, OT, OTD, OTR  and Temor “Tay” Amin-Arsala, OT, OTD, OTR to Sargent College! Read more about our new faculty members below.

Temor “Tay” Amin-Arsala, OT, OTD, OTR (they/them/he/him), is a Clinical Assistant Professor with a diverse clinical background, having practiced in schools, skilled nursing facilities, mental health and substance use programs, community-based settings and more. Dr. Amin-Arsala also has a significant volunteer history with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), having served as the State Delegate for Massachusetts to AOTA’s Representative Assembly from July 2019 to July 2025. Presently, they serve as a member on the GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ+ Equality Policy Committee. Dr. Amin-Arsala has a number of scholarly interests, with a particular focus on LGBTQIA+ health as it intersects with occupational therapy. Additionally, they are interested in exploring educational strategies to better teach interpersonal skills, including therapeutic use of self, to emerging clinicians.

Jessie Franco, OT, OTD, OTR (she/her), is a Lecturer specializing in adult rehabilitation with a diverse clinical background across multiple settings including inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing facilities, long-term acute care, and acute hospitals. Her areas of expertise include acute care, splinting, burns, neurology, trauma, and orthopedics. Dr. Franco earned her Master’s in Occupational Therapy from Boston University and her Post-Professional Doctorate at Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions. For her doctoral project, Dr. Franco identified a knowledge and practice gap within her workplace and developed an educational, evidence-based website (www.IntheICUwithJessie.com) to enhance practitioner knowledge and confidence in managing patients in the Neuro ICU. Dr. Franco continues to work clinically as an acute care practitioner at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Areas of scholarly interest include enhancing student preparedness for fieldwork and acute care practice through the use of simulation-based training.
