Senior Awards Application
Applications Due March 19, 2025
Each year, Sargent College hosts a Senior Awards Reception recognizing the achievements of our undergraduate award winners. Family, friends, and faculty are invited to this celebration. To be considered for an award, students must meet the eligibility criteria below and provide the required documents.
Students can apply for the following awards:
- Community Service Award: Given to students who are actively involved in volunteering services outside the university using the skills that been attained through their education while showing an outstanding ability to represent the ideals set forth by the college.
- Student Activity Award: Established for recognition of student contributions to college, University, and community activities.
- Professional Contribution Award: Given to students who show great potential in their chosen profession through scholarship, research, clinical experience, and promotion of one’s program to the community.
- Twiness Award: An honor society organized by the Class of 1921 to recognize seniors who exemplify the ideals of service, loyalty, thoughtfulness, and excellence of scholarship.
- Bernard Kutner Award: Established in 1972 in memory of Dean Bernard Kutner, the award is presented to a graduating senior in recognition of outstanding service to the college. This award is given to the student who exemplifies all the ideals of Sargent College through excellence in scholarship, high moral character, outstanding service to the college as well as to the community, loyalty and service to one’s fellow students, and exemplary potential as a healthcare professional.
Eligibility
- GPA of 3.0 or better
- Service as a prominent member, leader, or elected officer in student, community service, varsity athletics, or research/professional activities
Required Documents
- Resume detailing your leadership in student, community service, varsity athletics, or research/professional activities
- A one to two page, double-spaced typed reflection addressing the following: In what ways have your experiences at Boston University and Sargent College prepared you to make an impact beyond graduation? Feel free to include additional activities and experiences beyond BU that may be relevant.
- Letter of recommendation from a faculty member, research coordinator, employer in a health care setting, or advisor. Please ask your recommender to submit their recommendation via email to sarugradrecommendation@gmail.com by March 19.
Applications will be reviewed by a committee of faculty and staff. In addition to the letter of recommendation and reflection, students will be evaluated in the areas of leadership, service, student activities, and professional contributions. The Sargent Senior Awards Ceremony will take place on Friday May 16, 2025 in the Duan Family Center for Computing and Data Sciences.
Applications and supporting documentation are due Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
