Washington Post Writer Alexandra Petri to Speak at 2016 SAR Commencement
Sargent College is thrilled to welcome Washington Post Opinion Writer Alexandra Petri as our 2016 convocation speaker. Petri is a columnist for the publication’s ComPost blog where her satirical wit offers a “lighter take on the news and opinions of the day.”
In addition to her work at the Post, Petri is a playwright, stand-up comic, O. Henry Pun Champion, and former Jeopardy! contestant.
In 2015, she released her memoir, “A Field Guide To Awkward Silences,” in which she embraces the awkwardness within, priding herself on never being afraid of “looking like an idiot.”
Petri has been a contributor to the Chicago Tribune, Newsday, and CBS.com.
She graduated from Harvard in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
The Sargent College Commencement Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, May 15, beginning at 9 a.m. at the BU Track and Tennis Center. Additional information about the All-University Commencement can be found here.
