If you’re paid hourly, it’s your responsibility to submit a timesheet to your supervisor every week that you work. Each week that you work, it is your responsibility to submit a timesheet to your supervisor. Your supervisor will then verify your hours worked and submit your time sheet to the departmental payroll coordinator, who authorizes payment of wages.
Entering Your Hours is Easy
Enter your hours via Employee Self-Service every day that you work. For more information on submitting your timesheet:
Each department at Boston University has its own procedures for processing weekly timesheets, which you should discuss with your supervisor. You should also ask how you will be notified of early timesheet deadlines that occur because of holidays.
Hourly vs. Weekly Pay
Students paid hourly – Students who are paid hourly are paid for hours worked only. Lunch time, breaks, sick days, holidays, emergency closures, and snow days are not to be counted as hours worked. Timesheets must accurately reflect the hours worked and all breaks taken.
Students paid weekly – Students receiving a weekly stipend amount will not need to input hours on a timesheet but should confirm the hours per week with their supervisor.
Falsifying a timesheet is a serious offense
Fraudulent reporting of hours worked is considered gross misconduct and will result in immediate termination. You may also lose your financial aid, and you will be referred to the Office of the Dean of Students for potential further disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion from the University.
Holidays
Holidays may necessitate early timesheet deadlines. If hours estimated in advance do not accurately reflect actual hours worked, you should consult your supervisor about making the appropriate adjustment for the next payroll cycle.
