*If your certificate or course path leads to a degree-seeking program, please contact us.
Summer Jobs
The summer work-study program typically runs from mid-May to late August. Refer to the Dates and Deadlines page for details. Current, degree-seeking students are eligible to work on campus during the summer if they meet the following criteria.
U.S. Citizens and Eligible Non-Citizens
International Students
Enrolled for the upcoming fall semester and/or enrolled in summer classes*
Enrolled for the upcoming fall semester and/or enrolled in summer courses
International students may only work part time if it is not their first or last summer enrolled at Boston University; consult with ISSO for more information
*If a student is not eligible to register for the upcoming fall semester (e.g., fall graduation date), the student needs to be enrolled for summer.
After Graduation
If you’ve graduated, you are no longer eligible to work on campus as a student employee starting the following semester. For example, if you graduate in May, you may not continue as student employee in the summer.
However, there is an exception to this rule. If you graduated BU as an undergraduate and are immediately starting a BU graduate program in the fall, you may work as a student employee during the summer before your program begins.
U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens may access the job board listings to search for off-campus positions during the following time periods:
May graduates: Through the summer
September graduates: Through the fall semester
January graduates: Through the spring semester
Ineligibility
The following individuals are ineligible to work on campus or have access to the JobX Job Board listings:
Non-degree-seeking students (e.g., exchange or visiting students)
Students who have withdrawn or taken a leave of absence
