Who is this treatment best for?
Men on Androgen Deprivation Therapy who are at a high risk for bone loss or men with prostate cancer that has metastasized to the bone.
What to Expect
This drug is injected every four weeks to help control bone metastases or every six months to prevent bone loss. Denosumab blocks osteoclasts, the cells that break down bone.

What are common side effects?
Aches and pains in the muscles and joints. Low calcium. Very rare, but osteonecrosis of the jaw may occur. This condition causes jaw decay and may be caught early by regular dental check ups while on the drug. Other side effects can occur.
