Dr. Zhao is a board certified pathologist for both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Her clinical focus is Anatomic/Surgical Pathology with strong subspecialty training and experience in GI, Liver and Pancreatic/Biliary pathology. Her other pathology subspecialties include but are not limited to Breast, Head and Neck, GU, Soft Tissue and GYN. Also Dr. Zhao is interested in translational research focusing on colorectal, gastric and pancreatic cancers. She is actively involved in research projects with Drs. Chitalia and Bharti at BU/BMC and Dr. Deshpande at Mass General Hospital. Her main interests are studying prognostic and/or predictive molecular markers that are important for tumor progression and prediction for treatment responses. Currently Dr. Zhao serves as an interim chief for Anatomic Pathology, and participates in Resident education and teaching MD students.
