ASHOK KAMAL (CLASS OF 2001), SPEAKER AT 2011 SOCIOLOGY COMMENCEMENT
Graduate Ashok Kamal (BA 2001) took stage Sunday, May 22nd as the guest speaker for the 2011 commencement ceremony. Ashok is a social entrepreneur and Co-Founder & CEO of Bennu, which is a socially responsible product development and marketing company that completes the recycling loop (www.bennuworld.com). His career spans the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, including launching an independent hip-hop entertainment company, Raptivism Records, and leading a youth development organization in NYC, Directions For Our Youth. Most recently, Ashok worked at KLD Research & Analytics, the pioneering sell-side firm for socially responsible investors and worked on Newsweek magazine’s inaugural Green Rankings.
