Yasemin is a PhD candidate in Sociology at Boston University, specializing in economic sociology, work & organizations, urban sociology, analytical sociology, and social psychology. She holds a B.S. from Middle East Technical University and an M.A. from Bogazici University, both in Sociology. Before academia, she worked as an actress in Turkey, an experience that shaped her interest in workplace inequalities and the mechanisms sustaining them. Her M.A. research examined role diversification patterns and relational dynamics of inequality in the Turkish acting industry. Yasemin has also contributed to research projects on digital public diplomacy and the socio-political impacts of COVID-19 as a fellow of TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey).
Her dissertation explores investment dynamics in creative industries, examining how individuals and organizations navigate decision-making processes in the film and TV industry.
