Activist Lab Website Has a New Home.

Don’t worry, the Activist Lab hasn’t gone far. We are excited to announce that now, you’ll be able to enjoy all our content and all the School of Public Health content, in one place! That’s right, the Activist Lab website has integrated into the SPH website, and we are thrilled.

Why the change?

The Activist Lab has grown and evolved more than we could have ever anticipated when we started this exciting endeavor a few years ago. But one thing that has always remained the same is our connection to the SPH community. We are producing more content and hosting more events each year, all of which is largely informed by the research of our faculty and the passion of our students. We function as a vital organ within the School, offering a variety of training opportunities, practical experiences, and meaningful engagement within SPH and in the greater Boston community. We are part of the School and the School is a big part of us, so it makes sense that our audiences share a similar experience online. Now, the Activist Lab content and calendar will be integrated into the SPH newsfeed and it will be easier for you to find, learn from, and hopefully participate in our work throughout the year.

Moving to the SPH site also gave us the opportunity to undergo a bit of a facelift. We still Educate, Innovate, and Advocate, but because we strive to achieve those principles in every piece of work that we do, telling the Activist Lab story online can be a little tricky. We found ourselves struggling to label our projects to fit into one “bucket” when they could easily fit into all three. So, we needed a new way to organize the tremendous amount of work that we do. As any public health communicator can tell you, language matters. We needed to find words to identify our work in a way that was meaningful, but also broad enough to encompass the variety of what we do. That’s why you’ll notice that our homepage now organizes our work into three focus areas: Advocacy, Community, and Workforce.

Not unlike moving to a new house or apartment, moving a website is a process! But we think our community deserves the best online experience possible, and there’s nothing better than SPH online. We look forward to hearing your feedback as we continue to grow.
